Rental Car
Essential on all islands except Waikiki. Hand-controlled vehicles available through major agencies at all airports. Each island's attractions are spread around the coast. ADA-compliant parking at all attractions.
Oahu Transit
TheBus on Oahu is wheelchair accessible and covers Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, and North Shore. The Waikiki Trolley is not wheelchair accessible. On other islands, a car is the only practical option.

Accessible Hawaii, Access Aloha Travel, and other operators offer adapted island tours. Snorkel tours on accessible boats, luaus with wheelchair seating, and helicopter tours are all available.

🏛️ Pearl Harbor (Oahu)

🌋 Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (Big Island)
Accessible viewpoints overlooking Kilauea caldera. The Crater Rim Drive has multiple accessible pullouts. The Thurston Lava Tube has an accessible entrance. The Jaggar Museum area (rebuilt after 2018 eruption) has accessible exhibits. Active volcanic landscapes unlike anywhere else on Earth.
🐋 Whale Watching (Dec-Apr)
Humpback whales migrate to Hawaii waters from December through April. Accessible whale watching boats depart from Maui (Lahaina) and Big Island (Kona). Shoreline viewing from accessible coastal paths is also excellent — whales come remarkably close to shore. Maui's west coast is the prime viewing area.
🌴 Luaus

Waikiki: Smooth ADA-compliant sidewalks throughout. Beach mat and beach wheelchair at the beach. Haleakala (Maui summit): Drive to 10,020 ft (3,055 m) — paved viewing areas. Road to Hana: Narrow, winding — the drive IS the experience (from the car). Volcanoes National Park: Paved Crater Rim Trail sections and accessible viewpoints. Kona/Kohala coast (Big Island): Resort areas are modern with excellent accessibility.

Waikiki to Pearl Harbor: 9.3 mi (15 km, 25 min). Waikiki to North Shore: 31 mi (50 km, 1 hour). Kahului to Hana (Maui): 52 mi (84 km, 3 hours — 620 curves!). Kona to Volcanoes NP (Big Island): 93 mi (150 km, 2 hours). Inter-island flights: 30-45 min (wheelchair assistance available). Each island requires 2-4 days minimum.
