Privacy Policy

Wayfind is built by one person who cares about this. The short version: your data stays on your device wherever it possibly can, and we only send what a feature genuinely needs to work.

Effective April 2026

2. The community forum

The forum at community.wayfindtravel.co runs on Discourse, on a server we operate ourselves. Creating an account there means giving an email address and a username. Anything you post — topics, replies, photos — is public and visible to anyone who visits.

Forum email (sign-up confirmations, replies, digests) is delivered through a third-party SMTP provider, which processes your email address to send it. You can turn off every category of forum email in your notification preferences.

Some replies in the forum come from a clearly labeled Wayfind staff account that is AI-assisted with human oversight. It is always identified as such in its profile and never posts as an ordinary member. See how that works.

3. Third-party services

Anthropic (Claude). When you use AI chat, your messages and profile context are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. They process it under their privacy policy. Messages are not used to train models.

Google Places and Google Maps. Searching for or browsing nearby places sends your approximate location and query to Google, under their privacy policy. Accessibility fields and walking times come back from those services.

OpenStreetMap. Some accessibility information is seeded from OpenStreetMap data, which we hold ourselves — browsing it sends nothing to OSM. It is © OpenStreetMap contributors and used under the Open Database License.

Cloudflare. This website is served by Cloudflare Pages, which processes request metadata (IP address, user agent) to deliver pages and block abuse.

Voice input uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio never reaches Wayfind's servers or any third party — it stays on your phone.

4. Access and health-related data

Your accessibility and mobility information gets extra care.

Wayfind records mobility and access needs so it can personalize what you're shown. That data is stored locally on your device, and is only included in an API request when you actively use the AI chat. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used for anything except improving what you see.

You can view, edit or delete all of it at any time under Settings → Accessibility Needs, or wipe everything under Settings → Data Management → Clear Profile & Preferences.

5. Advertising

There is none. Wayfind shows no adverts, and your access needs are never used for targeting — by us or by anyone else, because they are never shared with anyone else.

6. Storage and security

App data — profile, trips, packing lists, chat history, attachments — is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. None of it sits on a Wayfind server. Forum data is stored on our own server with encryption at rest, and all traffic is over HTTPS. Deleting the app removes everything stored locally.

7. Your choices

  • Location. Deny or revoke it in iOS Settings. The app still works; you just search manually.
  • Microphone. Optional. Type instead.
  • Profile. Every field is optional and can be cleared at any time.
  • Chat history. Clear it with the reset button in the chat screen.
  • Forum. Delete your own posts and account from your forum preferences, or email us and we'll do it.

8. Children

Wayfind is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Changes

We'll update this as the product changes. Anything significant gets an in-app notice, and the effective date above always reflects the latest revision.
